Choose responsibly for our environment.

Wood heating is an environmentally responsible and sustainable option for heating your home. Burning wood is a completely renewable energy source, with a 10-year growth cycle making it a much better choice when compared to finite coal or natural gas. Unlike these non-renewable resources, burning wood produces the same carbon emissions as when the tree rots on the ground. And, when a new tree is planted, it converts carbon dioxide released during burning or decomposition of wood, into oxygen, making wood burning a much more attractive option when looking at the long-term environmental effects.

Natures carbon cycle means that if you burn sustainably sourced wood, it is carbon neutral. This makes wood a sustainable alternative to electricity, gas, or coal which all release much higher levels of carbon into the atmosphere that would have otherwise been safely stored under the earth’s surface.

The Australian Home Heating Association (of which Euro Fireplaces is a proud member) has and continues to work with Standards Australia and government to design several initiatives to ensure that all end users are responsible about their use of woodfires including regulations on smoke production, proper installation techniques, and regular maintenance procedures for fireplaces and stoves, as well as end user education about the right way to heat with wood.

The efficiency and wood usage of the fireplace is critical when considering how good wood heating is for the environment. Modern efficient fireplaces that are well maintained, not only produce less smoke and soot, but they also use less firewood than traditional fireplaces while providing even better heat output. This means that you can enjoy all the benefits of an efficient wood-burning fireplace without having to worry about consuming too much fuel or producing too many harmful emissions into the air.

When compared to electricity or natural gas, which are both non-renewable resources, wood heating provides a much more sustainable and responsible option for heating your home during the winter months. Not only does this help reduce our dependence on fossil fuels, but it also has far fewer short-term and long-term impacts on the environment than other forms of heating methods do.

Overall, wood heating can be an incredibly beneficial choice for those looking to make their homes greener and more sustainable. By using an efficient fireplace design and investing in renewable fuels such as firewood, we can help contribute significantly towards creating a healthier planet for future generations by reducing our reliance on fossil fuels like coal and natural gas, while still keeping warm during colder days ahead.
